To help equip students with skills beyond the walls of the high school and the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in their communities, the St. Francis High School Student Council sponsored a job fair on April 30.
Tuesday’s job fair, which featured around 25 businesses from various industries, marked the second year of the event after a student came up with and coordinated the fair last year.
“We wanted to expand it further and give students more opportunities than before,” said junior Lexis Wolfgram, who is a member of the Student Council. “We pushed to reach out to more businesses to get them here.”
The Student Council coordinated the entire event, which included contacting local businesses and chamber of commerce organizations, as well as, working with the Army National Guard to provide the tables. Students had the opportunity to visit the job fair at the end of the school day or right after dismissal to see and hear about the summer and post-graduate job openings.
“We liked the idea of getting students and business to connect and create more of a community in our area,” said Broc Vierzba, a junior on the Student Council.
