It is with deep sadness that at this time we are able to share that a district student tragically died this morning in an e-bicycle accident, which involved a St. Francis Area Schools bus.

Our hearts go out to everyone that is grieving this loss. The entire school district population and the communities we serve are impacted by this and we ask everyone to think of and support those who are grieving during this time.

Support for students and staff will continue to be available in the days and weeks to come. We are taking every step we can to be responsive to the needs of our students, their families, and our staff members.

Additionally, the district continues to fully cooperate with local and state law enforcements and agencies in the investigation of this accident.

According to state law, the Minnesota State Patrol takes the lead on the investigation and post-accident requirements. Per District procedures, the bus driver has been placed on a paid administrative leave pending completion of the investigation. We will continue to take the lead from the State Patrol and provide as much information as we can to our families and the community.
